If you see somebody on the club grounds who you suspect may not be a WBBSC member please ask if they are. If not a member suggest they apply for membership, and to leave the club property. Trespassers are a threat to our clubs safety and liability. Close the main gate when entering or leaving the club

grounds.

HUNTER SAFETY:  CCW & Hunter Safety Education Class. NO CCW firearms nor weapons, or other firearms, are allowed while Hunter Safety class is actively in session on the WBBSC Grounds. The Law considers Hunter Safety Education Class as a “school zone” therefore the “no firearms” provision applies.

Hunter Safety Education for 2012 dates has been established. January 7 sign-up 8-10am at the clubhouse, class dates March 5, 7,12,14,21 (7-9pm) WBBSC Clubhouse. Game Day March 17. Please contact Steve or Gary Panzer (262) 334-2425 NOTE: Hunter Safety Game Day 8-2pm Club grounds closed for Students use.

Considering WBBSC Membership?  Two important tasks you need to do.

#1: Become acquainted with a current WBBSC member in good standing who will Sponsor you. If you know a current WBBSC member you are good to go. If not please visit the WBBSC club grounds during events that are listed on the Calendar or otherwise posted on this site and introduce yourself stating you are interested in membership. Also attend a monthly WBBSC member meeting, 3rd Monday at 7pm at the clubhouse. See the "Road Map" link above for graphic directions to the WBBSC Grounds.  Come a bit early and introduce yourself. You will need your Sponsors name and signature on your WBBSC New Member Application.

Request that your sponsor introduce you to a WBBSC Board member that will perform the New Member Orientation.

#2: Orientation to the WBBSC facilities by a Board Member. This activity is where you, with your completed WBBSC New Member Application that has your sponsors name and signature completed, physically walk the WBBSC grounds with the Board member. You will be introduced to the range facilities and coached regarding the rules associated with proper use of the WBBSC facilities. The Board Member will provide his/her name and signature on your WBBSC New Member Application. Be sure that this happens.

Having completed the above your WBBSC New Member Application is complete and ready to submit for membership. New Member application form is available in WBBSC clubhouse or email WBBSC@WBBSC.com for a printer friendly electronic copy.

Please Please Please:

#1: Rapid Fire Rule: All firearms shooting is to have a minimum of two (2) seconds between shots. Rapid fire is not allowed. Some have said that the Bullseye pistol shooters do 10 rounds in 10 seconds in the Rapid fire stage. This is not accurate. The  Rapid fire stage is broken into two 5 round in 10 second timed periods.

#2: People are shooting at orange clay birds on the Hi-Power rifle range. The birds are being placed on the ground below the target frames, or on the berms above the frames. This is in violation of paper targets only attached to target frame rule. This rule is in place to prevent bullets from leaving the WBBSC grounds. If you or a guest of yours are busted shooting clay birds or other non-paper objects not attached to the target frame your WBBSC membership will be suspended pending consideration. WARNING: The Clay Police are watching!

#3: Be mindful that if you intend to pattern your shotgun use the patterning target frame over on the trap/clays range. This frame moves from time to time, if you seek it, it can be found. I use a roll of gift wrap paper, white side facing me, that I mark a 30” circle on it. I tear off a length, tape to the frame.

Folks using the rifle range target backers to pattern are destroying same. Please do not do this. While I’m at it, please do not shoot the rifle and pistol range target backer frames. Thanks in advance.

THE PREZ SEZ: Have a Safe & Happy New Year All.

WBBSC Annual Firearm Sight-In Event: a message from our sight-in chairman~

I would like to personally thank everyone that helped out on this years’ sight-in. Despite the weather (both good and bad), we had a successful year. We were able to help out with nearly 900 guns, and we did it safely, with no accidents. Please give me a call or email if you have any suggestions for improvements so we can get a plan together for 2011. October 2010 Newsletter Quarter 4

THE PREZ SEZ: Please find enclosed two books of our annual WBBSC Firearm Raffle tickets. Also enclosed is a flier for our annual WBBSC Firearm Sight-In event. Both of these are very important to our club from the perspective of fund raising. But, another big benefit is that folks who may be new to hunting or have hunted with borrowed guns may attend the sight-in or win a new gun. That’s a very good reason to do what you can to sell the Raffle Tickets and post the Sight-In flier where it will have good exposure. A BIG “Thank You” in advance!

WBBSC Annual Firearm Sight-In Event: Get your guns ready for the Whitetail Deer hunt. Per gun cost is $5, USA Military personnel free. 200 Yard sight in targets & Running Deer Target cost is a bit more.  Saturday & Sunday, November 6-7 and 13-14, 830AM 'till ???   Public welcome, buy a raffle ticket too.

Eye & Ear protection please. No Reloaded Ammo please.  Contact Don Swiertz (262) 483-7183, email dons@nconnect.net

Dan Gourley has retired from his position as the Sight-In chairman. A Big "Thank You" Dan for your hard work and contributions for making the WBBSC firearm sight-in clinics successful for shooters.

And a hearty welcome to Don Swiertz who is now the new Sight-In Chairman!

October 30 Rifle Range Repair Workday 8AM: The rifle ranges will be closed until repair work to target frames is complete. Please come and lend a hand getting this work done.             Also...private party in the clubhouse beginning in the late afternoon on this day

Heads UP Working Members: Your help is needed for the fence project. There are members present daily to give you guidance as to what work needs to be done. Please come out and get your hours in.

Your Opinion? There has been discussion around erecting a “roof” over the entire High Power Rifle firing line. Thanks to those who made time to give their feedback regarding that roof. One of the most heard comments was the need to be able to keep your gear as well as yourself out of the weather in case of rain for example. But, there was also feedback that shooting under a roof did not provide the natural lighting that is found in the field while hunting. Pretty good points. So, a solution of sorts was to make use of the existing metal pavilion structure that was next to the clubhouse. That structure was moved to a position straddling the area between / behind the rimfire and hi-power firing lines. The intention is to provide some shelter from the weather for you and your gear. There is concern that folks will shoot from under this structures roof. Please do not shoot from under the structures roof.

THE PREZ SEZ:

WBBSC sponsors an excellent Youth Shooting Program. To help fund this program a raffle is scheduled August 28, 5PM at the Clubhouse. All WBBSC members are encouraged to distribute raffle tickets that help fund the Youth Shooters. Tickets are available at the Clubhouse, just ask the counter tender for them, or contact Phil Enders (262) 338-8448. Ticket donation is 3-for-$5. Prizes are: Meat, yes, Meat.  1st~a Whole Hog,   2nd~1/2 a Hog,   3rd~1/2 a Hog,   4th~Whole Rib Eye,   5th~Whole Rib Eye,   6th~Whole Ham,   7th~Whole Ham.

To whomever the Knuckle Heads are that are shooting at orange clay birds placed on the high power rifle 100 yard target frames, there is a bounty on your sorry hides. If ANYONE is observed shooting at ANY non-paper target your membership is at stake. NO EXCEPTIONS. Consider that club by Hartland that is now closed due to bullets going off club grounds. We do not want that to be us. PAPER TARGETS ONLY on rifle & pistol ranges. Also, it is believed that the target frames are being intentionally shot through causing the frame to break. This behavior too, if your observed doing this, will cost you your membership.

Your Opinion? There has been discussion around erecting a “roof” over the entire High Power Rifle firing line. Basically to keep sun, rain, & snow off shooters. Your feedback is wanted. A simple yes or no response emailed to wbbsc@wbbsc.com, or call (262) 334-3632 (Pat C.) to make your voice heard.

THINK SAFETY

SPEAK UP IF YOU SEE UNSAFE BEHAVIOR!
THE BUTT YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN!

West Bend-Barton Sportman's Club - Newsletter Jan09

THE PREZ SEZ - I'm Rich Lewandoske, and I was elected President of WBBSC at the Oct20 meeting. Steve Duckwitz will stay on as secretary. SAFETY ALWAYS is my #1 concern for the club and it's members. I've had some nervous moments. FIRST, please, let's watch where the muzzles of our guns are pointing! NEXT, nobody head downrange to hang targets until the range is secured. That means: All guns on the range unloaded. All actions open. All guns laying on a bench, rest or ground. All shooters standing behind and clear of their guns. FINALLY, the safety of Club property. Last person out, please close and lock the gate. Any questions or comments for the club? I'm happy to hear from you 262-338-8709! Have a great 2009.
